STEEL SUPPLIER CHANGES HANDS
09-03-2006
Ownership of a Farnborough steel business which supplies nationwide clients - ranging from retailers to museums - is transferring from one family firm to another.
The Wilky Group’s steel division will become Beverley Steel Ltd on April 3 after a management buy out by Jim Beverley, who has managed the business for the past five years. Wilky agreed to the buy-out, which fits in with the Group’s long-term plans to focus on its other activities, after an approach from Jim.
Like The Group’s late founder, Wilky, Jim has appointed his wife and one of his daughters as directors of the new company, which will remain based at Wilky’s Stake Works in Farnborough. “Keeping the company at its present premises will help ensure a seamless transition for our clients,” said Jim.
The new company will continue to supply the same range of galvanised steel tubing, rails and fittings, for uses such as safety barriers, storage racking and trolleys. A more unusual application for the products is as frames for hanging tapestries, as used by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
Stake Works is also home to Wilky Bathrooms, a specialist supplier to housing developers, and Wilky Foundations Systems, a piling company. The Wilky Group’s other business interests are in property development, including the Aldershot Centre for Health, property investment, serviced offices, property fund management and third party commercial loan servicing.
